Payroll Tax Specialist - Onsite
Position Summary
The Payroll Tax Specialist is responsible for various federal and state tax compliance and related tax
research associated with the PEO industry.
Responsibilities
- Research legal issues, concerns, solutions and filing positions in compliance with local, federal and international tax laws
- Coordinate with departments with assigned new projects or businesses to ensure proper tax liability coverages.
- Assist in the audit of all corporate tax payments.
- Process payroll tax payments and tax returns for the organization which includes reconciliations
- Verify data for accuracy to ensure compliance with laws and regulations including organizational
- policies and procedures
- Resolve tax notices and discrepancies by analyzing information and processing corrections, if
- appropriate in a timely and effective manner
- Provide the highest level of customer service and support to clients through the assistance and
- resolution of payroll tax issues, questions or requests
- Maintain professional and technical payroll tax knowledge by attending educational workshops,
- reviewing professional publications, internal resources and research payroll laws and regulations at the federal, state and local level as needed
- Prepare and file monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll tax returns for federal, state and local taxes as assigned.
- Process tax filings and payments via e-file, batch agent files, mag media and EFT debit and credit.
- Resolve tax notices while maintaining timely status updates in case management system.
- Prioritize and resolve assigned tasks in case management system.
- Performs other duties as assigned or apparent
Qualifications
- Must be results-oriented with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment while meeting
strict deadlines - Provide the highest level of customer service and support to clients.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills with a proactive approach.
- Critical thinking skills necessary as well as attention to detail.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively and possess strong customer service skills
- Certified Payroll Professional certification (CPP) or Fundamentals of Payroll Certification (FPC)
preferred - Minimum of 2 years Payroll Tax experience.
- PEO or related industry experience preferred
