Position Summary

The Payroll Tax Supervisor must be self-driven, detail oriented and is responsible for the daily payroll
tax processes not limited to federal, state, and local payroll tax compliance, preparation of various
payroll tax payments and returns. The Payroll Tax Supervisor is responsible for training new
department staff and providing the essential tools and resources for success. Candidates must possess
strong problem-solving skills, be detail oriented, customer service driven and able to get along and
develop relationships with an array of clients in different industries and with varying personality types.
Knowledge of the PEO model is required.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the timely Federal, state and local tax payments for multi-state entities
  • Knowledge of PEO and ASO organizations as it relates to states filing requirements
  • Manage and provide reports and filings to CFO in preparation of AUP quarterly tax audits
  • Creating new guidelines and procedures for payroll tax related processes
  • Training and assistance resolving complex tax reconciliations, variances, credits and errors
  • Supervision and training of staff ensuring the quality of day-to-day processes and tax notice resolution with both clients and state agencies
  • EFTPS enrollments, annual wage reconciliation, Payroll Tax Adjustments, W-2 and W-2C preparation
  • Maintain professional and technical payroll tax knowledge by attending educational workshops, researching professional publications at the federal, state and local level.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of three years multi-state, multi-jurisdiction and high-volume Payroll Tax experience and
  • minimum of one years of recent Senior, Lead or Supervisor experience required.
  • PEO or related industry experience preferred. Hands-on tax return processing experience is required.
  • Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll, federal, state and local wage laws required.
  • MasterTax and Prism/HRP experience preferred.
  • Possessing a comprehensive knowledge of federal, multi-state and local tax regulations along with the ability to analyze complex regulatory tax notices.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze complex data, and ensuring that payroll taxes are processed timely
  • and accurately.
  • Must be results-oriented with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment while meeting tight deadlines.
  • This position requires exceptionally strong analytical skills, as well as attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively and possess strong service skills.
  • A thorough knowledge and understanding of payroll tax and the regulatory environment, which includes federal, multi-state, and local tax regulations as well as the ability to read, understand, and analyze highly complex regulatory payroll tax information.
  • Interpret and analyze complex data, make determinations free from immediate direction, and ensure that payroll taxes are appropriately processed.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines and adapt to fast-paced environment.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.

Education & Experience
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience with multi-state payroll tax processing
  • Mastertax and HR Pyramid experience preferred
  • A minimum of two years multi-state payroll tax, tax return preparation and high volume experience
  • Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills
  • Highly proficient in using MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), WebEx (or similar platform)
  • and Internet
  • Strong technical, time management and organization skills

Required Licenses And/Or Certifications
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification or Fundamentals of Payroll Certification (FPC)
