US Tax Preparer
Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Tax Preparer with a strong background in U.S. personal and business tax returns, including S Corps, to join our team. The ideal candidate will have approximately two years of experience in U.S. tax preparation and be familiar with tax software, client communication, and the preparation of complex returns. This role requires attention to detail, effective communication skills, and the ability to work efficiently with clients and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare U.S. personal tax returns (Form 1040) and business tax returns (including S Corps).
- Set up client accounts or roll forward tax returns from previous years using ProConnect tax software.
- Retrieve and review clients’ tax documents uploaded to Dropbox, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Communicate with clients, primarily via email and phone, to clarify any questions regarding their tax situation or request missing documents.
- Handle client communications, particularly with older clients who may prefer phone calls over emails.
- Record time worked on client tasks in QuickBooks Online, ensuring accurate billing in 15-minute increments.
- Maintain a high level of organization, managing multiple client files and ensuring all necessary documentation is in place for timely tax return preparation.
- Collaborate with the CPA to ensure tax returns are filed accurately and in compliance with relevant tax laws.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 2years of experience in U.S. tax preparation, including personal and business returns (S Corps).
- Proficiency in ProConnect tax software and QuickBooks Online.
- Strong understanding of U.S. tax laws and regulations.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex tax issues to clients clearly.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple client projects simultaneously.
- Detail-oriented and organized with a strong focus on accuracy and compliance.
- Experience working with clients who may have varying levels of technical expertise, particularly older clients.
